20 Apr Gorge Gleaning 2026: Community-Powered, Community-Sustained
Last year, Gorge Gleaning harvested over 50,000 pounds of produce – feeding families across the Gorge and keeping good food from going to waste.
This year, we’re facing a challenging funding landscape. Despite our success, we were turned down for several key grants. We’re grateful to receive support from Adventist Health Columbia Gorge, but it’s not enough to sustain the program on its own. To keep gleaning going, we need our community—you.
New for 2026: $10 per glean
We’re piloting a simple, community-supported model to help cover the real costs of running this program: staffing, transportation, and supplies.
A $10 registration for each glean helps ensure:
- Fresh, local fruits and veggies continue reaching families who need it
- Thousands of pounds of food don’t go to waste
- This beloved program stays strong and sustainable
And Gleaners still benefit: Gleaners take home 25–50% of what they harvest—always worth far more than $10—so you’re still getting fresh, local food at a deep discount. Fresh produce, plus community connection, time in the outdoors amongst the bountiful farms and orchards of our region, and the opportunity to preserve, can, and share seasonal harvests make time and funds spent gleaning well worth it.
No one will be turned away: Participants in need of food assistance can always join for free.
What to expect: RSVPs will look a little different, with an option to pay online in advance or bring cash/check to the glean.
For 11 years, this program has been powered by volunteers like you—over 500 strong. You’ve shown up, harvested, and made a real difference. Now we’re asking you to help keep the program going. We can’t do this without you.
